Apple on Monday previewed its iOS 6 mobile operating system, with a new Maps app, the introduction of Siri for the iPad and Passbook, an app that keeps, boarding passes and store cards in one place on Apple devices.

confirmed plans to replace Google Maps on its next operating system and said its Siri voice-activated personal assistant will work on the latest iPad when it releases the iOS 6 operating system in the fall.The Cupertino company gave no definite date for the autumn release, which is alsp when it is expected to roll out its new line of iPhones.
The new operating system will also let users turn on a do-not-disturb mode so that alerts won't sound and mark certain people on their contact list as VIPs to make sure they come in as an alert.
The Facetime video conferencing feature will now work on cellular networks, where until now it required a Wi-Fi connection.
Users Apple ID and phone number will be consolidated, too, meaning calls and messages will be avalable on either an iPhone or iPad.
A new Passbook app will also store user's boarding passes, store cards and movie tickets.
The preview of the new operating system came Monday morning at the annual World Wide Developers Conference.
Apple said the new operating system will work on iPhone 3GS and later versions. It will only work on the second and third generations of the iPad.
The company also announced new versions of its MacBook laptop lineup and announced its OS X Mountain Lion software will be available in July.
