7:15 PM: Former Minnesota Wild player Andrew Brunette has announced his retirement after 16 NHL seasons and has been named at the Wild's new hockey operations advisor.

7:00 PM: Seattle Mariners pitcher Felix Hernandez officially signed a new seven-year, $175 million contract on Wednesday: "To all the people in Seattle who trust me, who believe in me, I'm not going to disappoint .... I love this city and I love my teammates and I want to stay here in Seattle."

6:45 PM: Yahoo's Rand Getlin reports that Everette Scott was certified by the NFLPA to continue his career as a player agent despite being under federal indictment for fraud. Scott was convicted last week of defrauding investors out of more than $5 million.
