Election 2012: Minnesota President Rasmussen Reports, by?Staff |
Original Article |
Posted By:Photoonist, 10/23/2012 4:03:38 PM |
President Obama earns just over 50% of the vote in Minnesota. A new telephone survey of Likely Minnesota Voters finds Barack Obama with 51% support to 46% for Mitt Romney. One percent (1%) prefers some other candidate, while another one percent (1%) is undecided. (Snip) The survey of 500 Likely Voters in Minnesota was conducted on October 21, 2012 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 4.5 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.

Comments: 4.5% is close to the margin of error but still, 0bama seems to be heading towards taking this state barring a big sudden change. Perhaps the sewers of Chicago go under Wisconsin to back up into parts of Minnesota.

Oh, but don't forget, this is the only state that voted for Carter against Reagan. Considering that, a 4-5% poll margin for the D ticket is not that great.

The sewers don't come here, however there has been a trend in years past for folks flocking here from failed democrat cities in other states for our fine welfare programs. I think those type of people tend to lean democrat.

MN hasn't voted Republican for president since 1972. Don't worry - the streak will be broken in 2016.

Obama won this in 2008 by a margin of 10.3. Five points with momentum moving away from him is low and may point to results in other states. We have to keep working, praying and remember that broken glass is no barrier to victory.

As a Minnesotan, I often scratch my head at the wackiness of this state. We've elected radicals such as Wellstone and Franken as senators, Ellison as congressman, and Dayton and Ventura as governors. At the same time Michelle Bachmann gets elected to Congress. Go figure.

Lifelong friends in Minnesota who have never been political are e-mailing me Obama jokes. Remember the Democrats outside of Minneapolis are very much part of an internal combustion engine culture. Not only do you need a car to get anywhere but snowmobiles and outboard motors abound. They also tend to be pro-life. That Chip Cravaack seems to be holding his own against a full court press to retake a seat the Democrats think they own suggests that Minnesota could be an upset.

New York - Stocks sold off Tuesday, with the Dow Jones industrial average sliding nearly 240 points to a seven-week low following a slew of disappointing earnings. All but two of the Dow's 30 components were in the red. Only Intel (INTC, Fortune 500) andMicrosoft (MSFT, Fortune 500) eked out small gains. (Snip) Tuesday's sell-off came after three major U.S. industrial companies missed earnings expectations, igniting worries that the global economy might be on shakier ground than previously suspected. Eating a raw food diet is a recipe for disaster if you?re trying to boost your species? brainpower. In the run up to last night's debate, the Army Old Guard used its caisson horses in the burial of six veterans at Arlington, and certainly since twitter was ablaze with Obama's "horses and bayonets" line, a few more have been buried. This is not about a fact check (yes, the military still uses bayonets, and even does bayonet charges, just not as frequently), rather it's about remembering why the military still uses horses and bayonets, and how they both still play a valuable role for ceremonial purposes and in actual combat. Mitt Romney?s aim was to present himself with the demeanor and grasp of foreign and national security issues of a president of the United States. He succeeded. President Obama sought to make Romney appear unqualified to be president and commander in chief. He failed. And that was the story of the third and final presidential debate. This may or may not give the Romney campaign a boost, but it won?t hurt. Romney wasn?t stumped or forced on the defensive on any issue. He committed no gaffes.

Nickelodeon?s Linda Ellerbee said Monday that the president captured 65 percent of the vote to beat Republican Mitt Romney in the network?s ?Kids Pick the President? vote. More than 520,000 people cast online ballots through the children?s network?s website over one week earlier this month. Since it began in 1988, the kids have presaged the adults? vote all but once, when more youngsters voted for John Kerry over George W. Bush in 2004.

One night last February, President Obama was attending a million-dollar fundraiser in Florida when he spotted a local Republican activist he knew was close to Marco Rubio, the star Republican senator from that state. (Snip) ?Well,? Mr. Obama replied as he moved in a little closer, ?tell your boy to watch it. He might get his ass kicked.? As with the vice-presidential debate and Joe Biden, Barack Obama's attitude in Monday night's debate spoke more clearly than anything he said. No, he didn't laugh like Bozo the Clown, giggle like a schoolgirl, shake his head, and roll his eyes like Jokin' Joe did. But he looked petulant, perturbed, and on edge (and was occasionally rude) throughout much of the night, despite three days of debate preparation at Camp David. It seems Barack Obama just can't help himself. It wasn't that he was under withering attack by Mitt Romney. In fact, I was struck by how Romney opened
