Palmwoods, have your say on local sports and recreation grounds ...

Sunshine Coast Council - Queensland - Australia

Sunshine Coast Council

Residents of the Sunshine Coast are invited to have their say as Sunshine Coast Council reviews the Palmwoods Sports and Recreation Reserve and Briggs (and Grahame Rae) Sports Grounds Draft Master Plan 2012-2026.

Division 5 Councillor Jenny McKay said council engaged consultants to undertake a master plan for the sporting grounds in Palmwoods as they serve an important community function to provide healthy and active opportunities for all residents.

?The master plan will provide a long-term vision for the precinct, identifying what it will look like and how it will function into the future,? Cr McKay said.

?The sporting precincts in Palmwoods provide an important social hub for the local community ensuring sport, community and active recreation space is available for all to enjoy.

?Community feedback can contribute to the vision for the future use of the site and after a review by officers, the draft will be forwarded to council for final endorsement.

?By analysing and prioritising this information, a draft master plan has been formalised and is ready for community review.

?In developing the draft master plan, information has been gathered and reviewed from surveys and user group forums as well as interviews with relevant regional and state sporting associations.

?The master plan will provide recommendations for the effective and efficient use of the area for current and future sport and recreation user groups.

Residents are invited to view the draft master plan by attending a consultation session on Saturday 27 October from 9am to 11am outside Palmwoods IGA or by accessing the ?have your say? section on council?s website by Wednesday 21 November 2012. Planned completion for the master plan is January 2013.

Palmwoods Sports and Recreation Reserve and Briggs (and Grahame Rae) Sports Grounds is home to: Palmwoods Warriors Football Club, Nambour and Hinterland Australian Football Club, Palmwoods Cricket Club, Palmwoods Tennis Club, Palmwoods Western Districts Junior Rugby League Football Club, Palmwoods Guides, Palmwoods Scouts and the Palmwoods Aquatic Centre.
