Risk Management Program Coordinator - HigherEdJobs

POSITION SUMMARY:
Coordinates claims resolution for commercially insured and self-insured claims. Coordinates the investigation of incidents and accidents. Assists the University Risk Manager in planning, directing and coordinating the risk management and insurance functions of the University.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Investigates and analyzes details of insurance claims to ascertain the amount of damage, and assists claimants in their efforts to submit sufficient information to obtain full recovery for their loss.
2. Reports and coordinates the resolution of claims by working out problems with adjusters and departments to provide prompt service to University departments and non-University entities and individuals.
3. Coordinates the investigation of incidents and accidents by contacting police and individuals involved to obtain pertinent information; promptly reports and hazardous conditions to verify corrections actions and lower claim costs.
4. Maintains a record system and computer data base for University related claims; utilizes data to provide statistics and reports for identifying problem areas and forecasting future losses.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance or related field OR six years experience in a risk management or comparable insurance position in lieu of degree.
2. Ability to use good reasoning in analyzing a situation and also the ability to problem solve.
3. Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records.
4. Must possess effective oral and written communication skills.
5. Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to follow though on issues.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Master's in business, accounting or finance or related field.
2. At least 1 year of experience in the field risk management or comparable insurance position.
